Ride an '04 Standard and have 39999 miles on it as of tonight's ride. Had cams, chain tensioners, and oil pump changed at 32000 miles (cam faces were pitted). Minor upgrades only, prefer stock look for the most part. Wouldn't trade Sweetness! for any of the newer bikes, but that's just me. We've had too many great miles together.

Welcome to this forum, and congratulations on your 'new' Softail Standard. I ride a 2004 one, so I wonder why you want to change the bars. I personally find the stock bars very comfortable.

I lived in the Detroit area until recently. Where did you find this Softail Standard?

Paul, here in Idaho Falls. Can you post some pictures of the area around the starter kicker and frame rails. I'd like to compare your bike to mine (which is an '04 model FXST).

Go to the web site for Dennis Kirk, enter your bike into your account information, and then search for exhaust pipes. I don't think the V & H ones will work (they cover the starter). But the CS ones might.

It's called satin silver. Use some simple green and a soft paint brush. Once it's cleaned it will look really nice.

Which Simple Green, the original green stuff or the newer blue motorsports cleaner? Thanks.

I suggest that, when necessary, to switch to Pirelli Night Dragon tires, in my opinion, a better tire for a Standard.
