I wish it was that easy.
I spray mine with Tri-Flo lubricant every week. I just replaced another set of saddlebags this fall. Petroleum products and leather aren't lovers. Though I do like the looks of a chrome o-ring chain & sprocket.
i broke a belt and fitted a chain and sprockets. the 2 sprockets were available in the custom chrome catalogue, you will have to figure out ratios you require and chain length, cut down a bit of the rear guard plastic extension to clear the chain. i put a straight edge on when i finished, it was spot on, then you should mark the axle slot ( i used a small cold chisel to make the measuring marks permanent). 2 years on and 15,000miles, small adjustments and chain spray once a week YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
