Shovels

The last time one was manufactured was over 20 years ago, and even if impecable care was taken, there is going to be issues with anything that old.
Don't get me wrong, one of my bikes is a 1967 FLH, and at one time clocked 25,000 miles on it in a 2 year period here in the northeast, it gets ridden enough to need attention, even after being gone through. Just keep you tool box closer. BTW nothing sounds like a hot-rod shovel.

Good point

I have ridden Shovels all over this great country of ours. The last one I owned was a 1972 FLH which I rebuilt from the ground up. I sold it 6 years ago. It is still running great! Yes it still had points and I had valve seals machined in to keep oil usage at nill. That bike Never left me on the road side. The thing about shovels is they need to be ridden often. Letting them sit is when you have trouble. They are happy tooling down the interstate all day long! There is not hardly a thing on that bike I could not fix on the road side. I felt more comfortable being in the middle of nowhere with that old shovel then I have with any bike with electronic sheit on it.
Well said about the feeling of comfortable.
I carry tools with me, but seldom have to use them.
Put 14,000 miles on the '67 in one year before.(before I owned this business)
