Hopefully someone will be able to help me out with this.

I have a '94 Ultra and it currently has a air ride system on...taking it off.

I am 5'8, 160 and would like the ass-end lower for better foot position on the ground. I tried the stock shocks with the HD lowering brackets, but just wasn't enough.

Have been hearing everyone talking about Progressives and thought maybe they could be my answer?

I have a bad back and these hard jolts are killing me, so I need something changed real soon.

Which Progressive? Same lenght-with lowering kit? Shorter shock with lowering kit or without? Anybody have any solutions?

For the record, the bike will get loaded down, but only 1 - 2 times a year.

Thanks for looking.

Take care,
Baldman

12" 440's if money is no object.
12" 412's if money is a problem.

You can go to 11.5" but at 5'8" the 12 inch shocks are low enough.

I'd agree 100% the 412 's are really plush even in short lengths , the 440's are the top of the heap.

I'm not much bigger than you at 5'8"/175. I have a Street Glide with Progressive 440's. The 440 or 412 would be fine. Mine are 12" and I have plenty of foot on the ground. The 440 adds a great stability to the bike, especially cornering.
Both of these shocks come with three spring choices. I have the middle one. The standard shock with the standard spring was too stiff even at the softest setting.
good luck.
