Federal Companies - www.funtransport.com 800-747-4100

Came to the house with a lift gate, loaded the bike on a pallet and strapped it down. Provided tracking, got email updates along the way - arrived on time with no damage, no issues. and had HOG discount

Got in to Portland right on time, no Friday flight issues - taxi to the Big Moose HD, grabbed a case of PBR to show our thanks, buy a tshirt and get on the bike and go.

About a 4 hour trip to Bar Harbor - along the way feel a new vibration , seems the blue locktite that came on bolts for the touring link didn't hold and were finger loose, I had packed my folding alan wrench set with a few other tools- so tighten them up at the gas station stop and found a mom and pop hardware store where I got some red locktite - got to hotel checked in and took the bus downtown for dinner, came back that night after everything was cooled down and put a few drops of red on each bolt .

Saturday was a great ride through Acadia and the rest of mount Desert Island - stop at Atlantic Brew and mainly meats for lunch, take the bus back downtown for dinner saw deer and fawns from the bus, how cool.

Sunday morning its a cool 57 degrees and foggy, hit the road and head up to Canada, all day ride to PEI across the confederation bridge, check into the honeymoon suite with a great hot tub after a full day and 400 plus miles.

Up early Monday for the 1 hour trip to catch the 9:30 ferry to Nova Scotia make the crossing with no issues, but on our way to Sydney we get some rain, pull over and don the rain gear - a stop in Port Hawksbury at the Mickey d to get some lunch and out of the rain, have a McLobster and then back into the weather and arrive Sydney about 6 PM, check into our suite with fireplace, bar, and of course hot tub which makes this night and the next 2 very pleasant indeed.

Next 2 days are spent riding the Cabot Trail, counter clockwise1st day, clockwise the 2nd - we get a bit of light rain middle of the 1st day but no fog or clouds covering the mountains, just enough to have to put on the rain gear, but that's why we brought it. The only downer is there is construction in several places on the trail - much needed construction that effects about 10% of the entire ride, new bridges, one lane, pilot cars, etc. but it will make for a better future when completed.

Thursday we head back south from Sydney to Saint John, get buffeted by huge crosswinds on the way to Moncton for an hour, get to SJ hotel pull in the parking lot and into the middle of the Ontario chapter of the Hells Angels, along with a chapter of the Red Devils - they politely asked me to park my bike elsewhere , which I complied with by moving to the other side of the lot, apologies shook hands and checked in. - Later I found out they were in town for member funeral .. http://montrealgazette.com/news/one-dead-in-motorcycle-and-rv-pileup-in-new-brunswick

Up Friday early to cross the border back into the states, Customs took about 20 minutes so not to bad, passports, no issues - Welcome Home. Make our way to Salem and get checked in after a full travel day.

Explore Salem Saturday morning and a quick stop at FED EX to box up all the cold weather leathers, chaps, and souvieners to date shipped back to our home in FL- then onto the Mohegan Sun in CT, get checked in about 3, shower, dinner at MJ steak house and Black Sabbath concert that night.

Sunday is a full day ride to Front Royal, another 450 mile day and another hot tub waiting for us - cant say enough about having a hot tub to relax in after a full days ride, makes me and the wife very relaxed indeed!

What a great next 3 days spent riding the skyline / blue ridge - weather is perfect - hotel stops in Roanoke, Blowing Rock and Cherokee - each day stopping to see the views, blowing rock garden, grandfather mountain, vista after vista - do a side trip to Brevard for fuel one day through the Pisgtaha national forest, looking glass falls, sliding rock, ... each day is full of rides and views...

Thursday plan is the tail of the dragon and the sky way - however in the mean time a little hurricane has been brewing in the Gulf and seems it will be making its trek across Georgia the Friday we planed to be in the same place... so we make Thursday a full day doing the dragon, change hotel reservations for Georgia and spend another night in Cherokee and Friday spend the day riding the skyway - makes for 2 relaxed days but we did get a bit of rain on Thursday and had to hole up under the BP canopy on 74 for about 30 minutes with a group of bikers...

Saturday it's south trough NC, SC and into GA, stop in Douglas, Sunday back to florida and home about 4 PM...

Hell of a trip, back tire needs to be replaced now as well as front and rear brakes! Just a bit over 4000 miles in all. Mountain and ocean views, moose, deer, eagles, porcupines, all seen along the way.

The only problem is my face still hurts from all the smiles:)

Sounds like a great trip. Sorry you didn't get in touch while on MDI. Did the Nova Scotia trip way back in the mid 70's. remember it well. Heading up to Canada later this week. Looking forward to the ride.
