Ok, anybody familiar with the screamin eagle shift light (part# 69779-09) made by Autometer? My wife bought me one for Christmas and I'm just now getting around to installing it. Got it on yesterday and the numbers on the tach jump all over the place. I've double checked my connections at the ground, power source, and what I think is the correct tach input signal source. The instructions say to find the tach signal source in the wiring diagram in the service manuel for your model and year bike you have. I've looked at every wiring diagram in my service manuel and there is no mention of a tach signal source anywhere. I called my local dealer to ask them and they said on the softails it is in one of the unused pin sockets on the plug that plugs into the back of the speedometer. There are 3 sockets that have a pink plug in them that you can try. The first one I tried is on the outside and it is the only one that sends any signal at all. Tried both of the other 2 and get no reading on the tach at all. Went back to the first one and get a signal but the numbers jump all over the place. Doesn't matter if it's idling or riding down the road. Any suggestions?
