Rub a dub scrubs, posers, yuppies

What ever you want to call it. I think it’s nuts that anyone anywhere anytime cant wear what they want. The idea that a real biker doesn’t wear HD clothing etc… is ridiculous.
For me I hate to shop, don’t go to the mall don’t go to walmart. When I buy clothes though I tend to buy stuff that represents my interests. So you might see me wearing a HD shirt, a NASCAR Shirt, a NHRA Shirt, a Fender Guitar Shirt, a Hendrix Shirt, Bob Dylan Shirt, Red Sox Shirt…….. …………………… Does that make me a Rub a dub scrubs, posers, yuppie I don’t know and don’t really care. Often the shirt I am wearing sparks a conversation with someone I dont know.
I might as well buy clothes that show what I am into then buy no name stuff that is blank. To me clothes are an opportunity to express your interests. So to wear a blank shirt because you are really in to HD is like retarded. My first leather jacket was plain because that was all I could afford, but I always wanted a HD Jacket.
What’s wrong with that? Get a life man........

I can agree with that

I always have on a HD t shirt. I like to visit different shops and always pick up a tee while I'm there. Different people have different beliefs. The ones to follow are your beliefs.

And further more I would rather buy stuff that supports my interest's then supports JC Penny, Walmart, Sears, Lands End, Target, G Unit etc.......

Of course you can wear what you want,so what if you look ridiculus.As long as you are happy don't waste your time worrying about what other people have to say.Opinions are like what we all sit on,everyone!!!!! has one.I prefer all leather, and yes,people have asked me why.Go figure!!!! Here is your sign!! We bikers prefer leather!!!!!!

I most not be a ,,,, I ride a motorcycle ,i am a motorcycle enthusiast. I own a older hd ride. But i have also had other brand in my basement . I have motorcycle event shirts ,some atleast and a couple free hd items ,raffle or when i had bought new bikes or a couple hats pick'd up off the road.My oldest dather weres most of the shirts. I try to buy smart, good quality. All my gear could be warn on any bike with out piss'n some asshole off. I don't buy a hd product unless it cost less and that ain't gona happy.. I have owned a two wings and a fjr,thats a yamaha,and the same gear were on those bikes. I have also road 26 years this way. If i go to an event i might by a shirt or two but maybe not ,i go for me not to advertize. If that makes me someone you don't like ? Hell i can live with that. I don't have to wear brand loyal to prove i ride a hd or honda or yamaha. I just simply won't pay the prices harley and some others want for name brand stuff,period.

We shouldn't be forced to have to pay 5x what the item is worth just because it says HD on it. There is nothing wrong with wearing plain clothes, going to an indy shop or working on the bike myself.

If I do not have HD shirts, I guess I am not a real biker.

Obviously you don't get it newbie. In order to be a real biker you must:

1) Ride nothing but HD but constantly express disdain for the MOCO.
2) Claim to be conservative but be appalled by HD's capitalism. Well, not appalled since a real biker would never use that word, but you get the idea.
3) Dress like a hobo and piss and moan about those that dress like pirates.

I buy my HD shirts at the Goodwill Store for $1.50-3.00. I have bought 2 polo HD shirts and 4 HD T-shirts this summer and all were as new condition. I'm guessing the "real bikers" get them for presents and just give them to Goodwill.

Does shopping at the Goodwill Store mean I'm not a biker or does it prove I am a biker?

IMHO, if anyone cares, if you are wondering if you're a biker, you're probably not even close to my definition.

If you used the word biker in the 70's and 80's you were referring to an MC member, no doubt. Lots of folks rode every metric bike around but, nobody considered those guys bikers back then.... only the hard core group were considered bikers.

It's funny how definitions change over time..... to me, guys that go and guy brand new HD bikes and buy all the HD gear are not bikers because of that. They may become a biker but, at least to me, being a biker is a state of mind, not of money.

Hell, I own a couple of HD shirts ( that were given to me ) and, I've never thought twice about wearing them.... I can't believe anyone would even have a debate about who the real bikers are. You know if you are one.... if you're questioning if you are, you're not.

To me, you don't have to be in a club to be a biker but, to me, bikers are the guys who go to real biker parties, not these commercial rallies and run their golf cart around them. I mean real parties where you ride to them, not trailer.... bring your tent and live off your bike....

I guess I came across too strong here its all in fun I dont care what you wear if you are a biker or not. Beacause I dont know what a real biker is and I probably am not one myself. The clue was this was in response to Dirty Jims post and if you didnt know Dirty Jim well then...............
I dont care if you wear blank shirts either. Some days I do too.
Reminds me though one time when I was in Vegas I won some money so being from Maine I went over the the HD Dealership and bought a bunch of goodies to bring home. Bought a few friends some shirts too. One of my friends asked why I didnt get him one too, I said you never wear HD shirts, even though he is the oldest HD rider I know. Should have bought him a blank one I guess.
Never had a G Unit shirt either

So I guess I shouldn't wear my Lacoste or Polo shirts when I ride my Harley?

Heck, I had a Harley hat and shirt even before I had a Harley. What in the world was I thinking?

He!!, I wear HD t-shirts to promote the fact that HD supports fat bastards like me by supplying t-shirts in larger sizes, hence enhancing the size of their advertising on my 3xl to 4xl shirt.

Lets see in the morning I reach in to the closet and grab something off a hanger that my wonderful wife washed and put away for me. 9 times out of 10 it's a shirt that is big enough for my fat gut. If not it's now a rag. Oh well life goes on.

I own 2 pair of HD boots, 1 HD leather jacket, 1 non HD leather jacket, 1 HD Vest and 1 non HD pair of chaps. I ride my Harley Ultra Classic from NC to the Daytona Bike Rally and to the Rally in Sturgis. My bike has never been on a trailer and I do all of my own maintenance. I own a bunch of HD shirts of which some I bought (because I liked them) and some were gifts from my family and friends. Am I a Rub a Dub Poser?? If so, I can live with that and will just keep smiling on my way to Daytona and Sturgis.

I started riding in 1960's and your right. We didn't wear the patched leather vests, chaps or any of the pirate uniform you now see most everyone wearing . The only patch wearers and "bikers" were the hardcore 1%ers like the Hells Angels. No offense but as far as I can remember the "family" or veteran MC patch clubs weren't around either, it was 1% or nothing. All we wore then was jeans, T-shirts, work boots and in the cool weather a Levi jacket, or leather bomber jacket. We also didn't buy tons of chrome for our bikes because it wasn't readily available like it is now and the truth is we didn't have the extra money. We used to custom make any parts ourselves and have them chromed if we added any to the bike. Logo shirts were scarce back then but I did own a Triumph logo t-shirt in the early 1970's as I rode a Bonneville and a Trident. I wore it regularly and no one ever said a word about it. It really is funny how things have changed from the old days but I am glad that more folks are riding motorcycles. Yes, I wear HD t-shirts and I really don't care if anyone likes it or not or if they consider me a RUB. Getting someone elses approval is not a priority with me. At 60 years old I'm just happy to still be alive and I do what makes me happy.
