Hey guys, I've been wondering about some upgrades for my 99 fxd. I've bought a Twin Tec ignition which deletes the cam sensor. So I can run the newer style chain and gears on the front without that ridged gear for the CMP. So in theory I should be able to buy everything for the newer style (cam plate, cam gears, camshafts, bearings tensioners etc) and it would bolt up? Will the old cam plate work with the newer style gears and cams? What are the differences/compatibilities between the two systems?

You cannot use late model cams in a `99 engine, the inner cam bearing size is different.

You can use `07 and later tensioner and cam support plate oem parts, but you must use conversion cams.
