Just bought a new '03 Road King Classic after many years riding softails and I love the ride. I want to change the seat to something more comfortable for me and my wife. HD has a bucket aftermarket seat designed for the RKC. It looks good in the catalog. But many have told me that the Mustang touring seats are great also. I'm looking at either the solo with pad or the one piece smooth style. Anyone out there have experience with these?? I don't want to buy the wrong one!
Thanks -- John

I have recently installed the Mustang solo and 14" pad on my Road King standard and I/we love it. My wife loves the new pad. I put in a 500 mile day right after I installed it and was very comfortable. The stocker was only good for 100 miles or less before numb ass set in. The Mustang seat is a little narrower in the front than stock, but where you sit is real nice.

I chose h-d seat for my 01 RK and wish I had gone with the Mustang. While the h-d seat is better than stock seat(and what isn't? ), it still makes my tail(and wife's) sore after about 100 miles.

I've had a Mustang ordered for my 01 RK for 4 weeks now. I'm being told I've got another 3 to wait. Seems RK owners are ordering a lot of seats. They told me they were up to 8-10 wks backordered at times. I'll wait, I tried one out and was impressed. The owner had 50k on the seat and raves about it.

Which Model# Mustang Seat & Pad

FLHR-I

If you don't mind, which model seat and pad did you chose from Mustang for your RK?

I to have a stock HD seat & pad on my 2001 FLHR and have been thinking of changing to a Mustang product.

Thanks in advance.

Which Model# Mustang Seat & Pad

Big Ron,
I've ordered the 75464 One piece touring seat(wide version), smooth, no studs and the matching passenger back rest pad 75320. The reason I choose smooth was the person I mentioned before had one complaint..the studs got ripped out too easily. I ordered from Sargent Cycle. They sell for 15% off of the Mustang website price w/reasonable shipping charges.
Good Luck. Ron

RK Seat

I was having a problem with the stock seat on my
1999 RK classic. I then changed to the HD touring seat and still had a problem. I bought a one piece Mustag seat and problem solved. Looks great and rode from Mass to Sturgis in three days without a pain in the ass. I highly recommend the Mustang.
PS: have the Touring seat still make an offer.

Sorry about the late reply, I was out of town all last week. Anyhow, I used the 75578 seat and 75579 pad. I got mine from J&P cycles. Only took a couple of days. The seating position is about the same a stock, but the nose of the seat is narrower.

I've had a Mustang seat for a couple of years. It's a great seat. Very comfortable on the long haul. They even fixed a out of warrenty tear for free at their booth at sturgis a couple years ago. Great customer service
