Well my son finally got him a bike, he picked up something that I would want so I'm kind of jealous lol

2014 Softail slim, has a paint scheme called mysterious Red. 1000 miles on it.

I've been taking him to the 4H parking lot to get use to it and have purchased a riding course for him in July.

So, I've promoted safety of course and he is into these skid armor stuff and the DOT/ECM helmits. I've learned a few things from him on riding gear now.

Anyone buy this stuff and from who with good chit? I never purchased skid armor?

RevZilla is all I know and I didn't even know about what all they had.

The armor is more for impact than skid protection.
Quality leather can help provide road rash protection but needs to be fairly tight on body.
Blue jeans provide as much protection as... well... better than nothing but if you have stuff in your pockets...
A half helmet, even DOT, is a safety compromise.

That's a good lookin' bike. I like those Slim's.
Good luck to your son with his new ride.

Yea never messed with this armor stuff, I really was under the impression it was for skid protection? So if it's more of a impact armor wouldn't that be more for off road use? Seems street use is more after skid protection.

My brother took after my fathers side of the family. It wasn't any fun for my mother at PTA meetings. She had to drive clear across town to get the mailman.

@gree: I've used Surdyke for years with good results. They are somewhat slow. I just bought a helmet from Revzilla. Everything went well there too.

I tried a helmet from revzilla. I learned two things, 1.helmets must be tried on and 2.Revzilla's return policy is exactly what they claim. They do ask why but I don't think there is an answer that will cause a problem.

I decided to go to a local dealer and try a few. This turned out better because what would have been my second choice didn't feel as good as what I ended up with. Apparently my head shape is less common, nearly round, shape.
