Good evening everyone. Please grab a bar stool and have a cold one on me.

I?d like to ask for a few suggestions for a replacement set of handlebars for my ?03 Fat Boy. To me, the stock bars are just an inch or two too far forward, no matter how I have them angled. I?d like to find a pair of bars that are just a bit farther backward to allow me to lean back a bit more in the seat. That would make the longer rides more comfy.

Also, I?d like to get by without having to redo any cables or wires. Is that possible if I?m only trying to bring the controls an inch or two closer?

got a set of chubby 508's on my heritage which is basically the same frame etc. as a fatboy. 16 inch pullback and I lov'em. no huntching forward.

Check out J&P Catalog for part #290126 Custom pullback risers. These can be used with your existing handlebars, wires, and cables. These worked great, and makes the difference you are looking for.

Check into the older bars...like pre 2000. I think they're different bars

I have Wild 1 bars on my Heritage....I was also looking at Carlini Bars...Both companys make really good quality bars....You can find both of them on the internet....

I'm looking at putting those 2.5" pullback risers from J&P on my Heritage. Did you have any issue with the front brake line? Was the length OK and did you have to bend any of the metal part of the line? I've already replaced my stock Heritage bars with the Bighorn touring bars and had no problems with any cable or the brake line, but I'm looking to pull the bars back an inch or so for more comfort.

I wanted to sit back and enjoy the ride, so I went with Wild 1 508's. I kinda wish they had an inch or two more pullback, but eh. It's like sitting in a recliner, back rest on my Corbin, feet on my Linbars. Oh yeah....

I've got a set of White Bro's burly Knuckle bars, 1.25" dia.
They are very close to stock except maybe 2" more pullback, and .5" taller. About $120 from J&P Cycles.

Here is a pic of my Fatboy with the White Bros. Burley Knuckle bars. I love the look and feel of these bars much better than the stock bars. Hope this helps.

Those are some nice-looking bars, big dog. They look very similar to the White Brothers bars I just put on my bike. Good choice!

I went with the ’Fat Bars’ by Cyclesmith for my 02 FLSTFI. The cost was right and they put me lower by about 2 in, 2in back and 2 in wider. I used stock wiring and cables. Here is a pic...not really a great angle, but I am 6'4" and 225.

I just threw a set of Wild One 518's on my Fatboy(2002). You WILL have to add some wiring (which means soldering and shrink wrap). Running the wires through the bars was real easy....I just taped them together(after removing the "sleeve") and they went through like nothin,just had to grab them with a pair of needlenose when they reached the opening.Also, had to dremel the wire slot at the controls a little bigger,so the signal light wire could run inside the bars without being pinched. Nice bars,they improve the "comfort factor" a lot.

I replaced my stock cables with steel-braided cables when I replaced the handlebars.

Irbigdog, thanks for the suggestion. Just ordered this part to see how it works for me. It looks much easier and cheaper than replacing the bars.

I just added these exact risers to my '02 Fat Boy last week. It's true that the cables and brake line didn't need to be replaced. The installation was very, very easy but I was less than happy with the results. These risers are only 2 1/2" long and replace the stock 1" risers. The 1 1/2" additional lenght doesn't make that much difference for the $50.

If I was to do it all over again, I would recommend ordering longer risers or some Wild 1 chubbys (508 or 518). Unfortunately, both of these options would proably mean that you would have to replace the cables and brake line.

Cables are ok with the 518's. The brake line just barely makes it .

Just installed the new risers and took a little ride. It felt a little more comfortable. Maybe an inch or two more would be perfect, but this will do for awhile. Thanks again Irbigdog for the pointer.

I have 2001 fatboy-put chrome roadking bars out of HD accessories catalog on. There about 4" narrower and pull back about 4" more than stock bars-about$40..
