I am replacing the original rear wheel on my Standard with a Fat Boy disc and I will put a 150 tyre on.
The service manual says that in order to remove the rear wheel you need to remove the rear disc brake pads.
Is it really necessary?
I'm thinking that if when I remove the wheel I put a spacer in place of the rear disc it should be ok and if I am then very careful in reinstalling the wheel, things should be fine.
What is your opinion on this?

thanks

Hey I just had to remove my back tire to replace it with new tread. All I did was remove the caliper itself not the pads. I did not touch the pads and they remained in the same position when I replaced the wheel, and slid right back into place.

Good Luck
