I was thinking of putting an avon 140/90 16 rear tire on the front on my bagger
is this a good idea...didn't see a 140 for the front at ron ayers

Hey Shorty,
I have to agree with LT there. From what I understand, the engineers at the tire companies study the forces that the tire will undergo when on the front and when on the rear. They then design the tire to have what they consider optimal tread pattern for that position as well as build a little more meat into the tire where the most amount of friction will occur.

I have seen that the better tires for the rear have more meat in the middle of the tread pattern and the better ones for the front have more meat off center and even at times give more build to the left side vs right (because in US it takes longer to go around a left curve than right).

Now I have seen in the past some tires that can be placed on either end, but those usually come right and say that it is possible in their description.
