I have a 99 FXSTC that is mint condition factory paint. Two tone, bronze metallic over a deep yellow. Dark red pin stripe between colors. I've NEVER seen this combo on a softail before. I saw one Dyna several years back in Chicago but that's it. Bike always gets looks and questions about the paint. I damaged tank once and took it off and carried it to the local dealer to get it repainted. However I had to supply the VIN number to the dealer via my title before they would send it to HD for repaint. Took 8 weeks at the HQ. How do I find out what the official color combo was called and how many of the various bikes were offered? Not sure if this was the best place for this question... sorry.

Thanks
Ron

Each Harley Davidson dealer has a catalog that they use to order painted tins from the factory. Your color combination should be listed in this catalog. As far as finding out how many were sold. Dunno how you can obtain that sort of information.

I forgot I sort of collect the H-D sales brochures over the years. I found the 1999 brochure. 2 tone colors listed for 1999 FXSTC are sinister blue & diamond ice, aztec orange & diamond ice, and lazer red & black.

Thanks Road King but none of those colors are the ones on my bike.
As I said I've never seen another like it and it was done by the company.
I was told one that it might have been a 95 aniv color combo?

I'd write a letter to HD's archive department, or at least start with some research at the factory level. I had a 1994 softail with a unique paint combo on it too and think it was a factory custom job. hope this helps
Don't think it is a 95 anniversary paint job as i think they were brown metallic & gold.

If you are really bored and like to wrench, you could look at the underside of the tank in the tunnel section for a sticker that sometimes has the code, could be a lot of work for nothing but you wont know until you look. Could the colors possibly be Aztec orange and Nugget Yellow, check out the listing for the 99 bikes here http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102739

I have an HD painted parts catalog and could not find that combination...
You could, however, bring it to a PPG dealer, and they could put it on a 'color eye' and probably match the colors within their own line (they do a lot of HD colors anyway...)

Good luck!
