I use a Harley Davidson Gore Tex jacket and an Aerostich pants with the Harley gators for my boots. A couple of weeks ago I rode 200 miles in the rain from Maine to Mass and then went to dinner in my dry clothes. Gore Tex is expensive but it breathes so you don't sweat, it packs small, and in my opinion worth every penny.
