I posted this question earlier in the vtwin technical forum. I guess I should have posted it in this forum. Sorry. Still learning about the website.

I was considering straight drag pipes, but a friend said I'd lose low end torque. If so, is it a sever loss, or something pretty minor. Also, is it in any way harmful to the engine?

Well straight pipes provide very limited back pressure and over scavage at low RPM causing a drastic reduction in low end power. The more weight you put on the bike the more you will notice the change.
2 up you would definitly notice.
It will definity affect the tune of the bike and cause it to run lean down low. If not corrected could burn an exhaust valve.
FYI, Replied both places but you can delete you otehr post if yoou want.
