while changing the fluids noticed there wasn'yt a magnet on the primary plug. retrieved bits and pieces from the primary case. endedup taking the case off and cleaning it out of debri. dealer said he's seen it before. has this happened to anybody else? any suggestions how to prevent it? thanks

Have not seen one that came off, but often see plugs where the magnets are a little loose. Just throw them away and get a new one.

I suppose that if you consider that once the bikes have run 5 or 10K miles, in particular if run on synthetic lube, there hardly are any shavings on the plugs anymore, you could just use a a regular pipe plug but that brings a small risk with it too.

Just one of those things where you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Looking at the big picture the risk is very small either way.
