ok i have a question for the motor heads,,like almost everyone else here i spent a lifetime loving harley and riding metric at 39 i finally was able to make the big move,,,,i have spent 2 and 1/2 years studying service manuals , reading and asking questions so i can enjoy and maintain my bike,,,,00 rk 21,000 miles,,,i have yet to hear what causes the small popping sound so common to hd,,,,it occurs sometimes when deaccelarating to shift and coasting at low rpm,,,is this a small intake leak at the o ring or what,,,seems very common to me

There are a number of possible causes. Search the board for "reversion"

woodwalkertc88,
If you find the answer (other than here) would you pass it on to me. I'd like to know too. I always thought it was part of Harley's trade secrets. I know other countries have tried to copy Harley but never could. I even read somewhere that Harley was trying to patent their sound.

yup mine pops ever so slightly after adding my mods. i wonder if it is an indication of a slighlty lean condition. i think mine might be a smidge on the lean side yet.
