I have a '91 Fatboy that i recently purchased, it has a S&S Carb (E). It starts right up with Choke and then i have to feather it to keep it going as it wants to dog out. It backfires with a hard pop or two until well warmed up then runs fine. I'm a novice with anything beyond changing the oil and replacing the filters and such. Any ideas etc......would be greatly appreciated. My bike has 14000 miles on it so plan to take it in for a overall maintenane check.

Thanks guys........i appreciate the good advice. I've also come to find out that leaving the choke up too long when warming up definately creates the backfire effect--running to rich!
