Why does it take so flippin long to get painted parts from Harley? My wife and I got rear ended on Labor Day weekend, no serious injuries to us but my lowrider suffered quite a bit. Long story short, my fender was folded up among other things and parts were ordered six weeks ago. Everything came in at two weeks except fender. Called shop today and still no fender. WTF

I think they paint them as they are ordered. If yours is a couple of years old, some guy has to go get the paint, mix it, shoot it, stripe it, ship it. And it ain't they're bike, ya know?

My understanding is that they paint only one color at a time and go in cycles.
For example, they may paint all orders that they have for Luxury Rich Red this week and may not shoot any more of that color for another eight weeks.
So, if you place an order for a Luxury Rich Red tank next week, you will more than likely wait a while to receive your freshly painted tank.
