I ride my bike in Ireland, average temp. approx. 12/13 degrees, am going to the HOG rally in Barcelona in June and have been advised to fit a cooler. Haved scoured through web and found one at www.jagg.com costing $283 before S&H and currency.

Am I mad or is this really required for safe/long engine life ?

Any thoughts, please advise.

Why not choose the H-D cooler made to fit yer RKC??? It's cheaper @ 229.95 USD including thermostat and all hardware.

I did that and also put the chrome cover on and still have less invested than $283.00.

Save your money. I live in Florida where temps in the summer constantly get to 35 ºC. I have an oil cooler on mine but there are many bikes here that do not. I also run synthetic too. If the majority of your riding is done at much lower temps, it will take a good while before your oil ever warms up to 100 ºC with an oil cooler, and that is in stop and go traffic.
