O.K., how much did you pay for your Rod?

Curious. Just got my new V-Rod, that I put a deposit on about a year ago.

Was wondering how much the average guy has to pay for one of these bikes.

I know the dealer, so he was nice to me.

doc, welcome to the H/D Forum and a particular welcome to the V-Rod Forum.

Some members will confess to paying well over msrp. Others contend they only paid msrp for the V-Rod. Some had arrangements where they got the bike for msrp and then agreed to purchase $xxxxx amount in accessories. Your luck in large part may depend on where you live and demand for the bike in your area. I can candidly say that I have NO knowledge of anyone in the U.S. purchasing a V-Rod for below msrp!

We've had a number of threads in the Forum regarding the price members have paid for their bikes.

Sometimes, doc, it's better to NOT know what someone else paid for a bike. You may just want to kick yourself. Or conclude your dealer wasn't so nice to you after all. The bike lists for $16950'ish, plus misc. costs, and State taxes and fees. Now, was your dealer really nice to you?

My dealer has been my patient for a number of years, and I've been buying bikes from him for 10. So, yes, he was really nice to me.

However, I think the bike is worth at least 23,000, considering the amount of engineering that went into it and how it stands up very nicely against real customs and new Indians.

I personally am not going to profit from my bike. I'm going to ride it for a while, then sell it to a friend for the purchase price. I'm more into bikes I ride a fair amount and collect dirt on.

I paid list price. 16.9 K. Plus dealer prep and tax.

How many others were allowed to pay list by their dealers, without any accessories tagged on?
One of our V-Rod owners paid msrp in No Cal. Rob? You out there?

From what I've read around the Internet (and you know everything you read on the Internet is true!;) ), there are several dealers around the Country that will sell you a V-Rod for msrp. There are also several charging WAY over msrp!

Let's see if anyone will confess, er, aah, if anyone will let us know what they paid.
MSRP +

My dealer said all their Rods were arriving with a security system already installed , so they were charging 275 for it-------Otherwise i paid MSRP---------16,999 + 275 (sec) + dealer prep and ohio tax @ 6%

ps--the security sys. did not have the audible siren , which i have on order for 87 bucks------will have them put it in when i take her in for her 1k check-up, which is in 200 mi.'s

I think that all the V-Rods come with the security system. At least mine did, and they didn't charge extra for it. Certainly, the $275 isn't much over list to complain.

Do you really want an audible alarm? Around the NYC Metro area, people get very annoyed at such alarms. I would think that the bike might get "assaulted" by angry neighbors. Wouldn't take much to mess up the anodized aluminum! ;>)
Now ya got me thinkin

i need to check and see if the sec. sys. is standard equip.-------its not the $275 but the principle-------this is my first bike and first dealing with a Harley Dealer---------------

as for the audible-----i think it would do ok for around here -----i can see where it may be a problem in The City------i initially wondered why they just didn't tie it into the horn------then i read about how it has it's own power supply and can sense if the battery cable is cut-------now it makes sense

Philly prices

Took a ride down to Philly on Wednesday night. Bike handles nicely on the highway. Got the mileage up to 460, so basically am ready to increase RPMs!

The Philly sportbike and Harley crowd say the local dealers are getting $25,000 for their V-Rods.

As beautiful as the bike is, and as nice as it handles, I think that's reasonable.

I think Harley will be losing money on the bike if they keep the production down, like it looks like they are going to do.

Sort of like the Dodge Viper. A loss leader that brings people into the dealership.

What a sweet bike!

East Coast HD has two V-RODs on the floor, price was around $20K, including S&H, taxes, tags, vigorish....
V-Rod price

Here in SE Connecticut the average price for a V-Rod is between
$21-25k some stock and some loaded. I paid $24k for mine
back in March and I have NO regrets, I put 3600 miles on it so far and it is just an awesome machine -except for the exhaust.

Now if only Samson would make a stock looking pipes .
