I have bought 2 new Ultima standard flow oil pumps (model 98-516) where the non-driven gear on the backside does not spin. I returned the first and received the second that is exactly the same. Am I missing something? The gear should spin freely, correct? Also, it doesn't come off like all the others....

Please help. I need to be back on the road!!!

According to their drawing, its the sump idler gear that is sticking.

You know, that's a good idea!!! Truth is, I hadn't thought about it. But, last night I decided to look a little closer. Some signs of surface rust, but light. So, I twisted a little harder and got to break free. Took it apart, cleaned and lubricated it... and now it is fine.

I should of called Ultima though. Feedback is always good for any company. A little lube and there would be no rust.
