New Seat!

Just thought I would throw this out there for anyone interested. I have a 04 Ultra. The stock seat was miserable so I bought a Mustang. I had it two days and sold it to someone else. I thought it was like riding on a flat board. Next I ordered a dual Corbin. I had one on a RK I used to have and liked it just fine and looks great, but my wife hated it and she said the same about this one. I sent it back. Next I read from another site about Diamond custom seats. This one was on the bike for about a year. I had to do some modifications to the backrest and to the pan to make it fit the bike right. It is not bad and the wife liked it but I just did not like the looks or the fact it is covered in vinyl. It made for a hard ride to Sturgis this last year. In fact I bought a AirHawk just to have on the way back. Now all that being said.... I bought a Russell Day long seat. It is leather seating and it fits like a glove. I wish I had done this in the first place. Attached is a picture. Ultra 04

I wouldn't have anything else but a Russell for a touring bike. I have bought 3 from them over the years. It's the only seat I've ever had that I can actually go all day long as they say, and then some. Absolutely no butt burn no matter how long or far I ride. If someone would have told me that before I bought my first one, I'd told them they they were full of sh#t.
I have formed some interest in the Russell from some other posts I've read. Perhaps someone can answer some questions for me. Any estimate as to how much a total '06 Ultra dual seat, in leather, with rider backrest and a recover of the passenger pads on the tourpac to match set me back? I am a little confused by their web site. Also, did you custom order with pictures, or do the ride-in service? If ordered, how long was your bike without a seat while they were building the new one on your pan? I don't think the ride-in service would work for me.

Thanks for any input.
Russell seat

rrockefe. I am also thinking about a Russell seat. Email Katy from Russell, she was very helpful. I am looking at a similair setup on my road glide without the tourpac pads and its going to be about 1100.00. Katy said that the turn around time is about two weeks not including shipping. They use your stock pan. You have to set up a production date with them and she said that the open dates are filling up quickly. dmac
stop wining... or you get rid of the bike, or you get rid of the wife and buy you another cadillac... then hopefully you will get happy... or buy you a goldwing and a 22 year old girlfriend. She will not wine.... yet .

So, how many miles do you put on in a year, ya' little ray of fukcing sunshine?
I'm glad he posted his experience w/ the seat and I bookmarked the Russell site for future reference.
About 11.000 Miles /year incl. FAAKERSEE and 1 SUPERRALLY.
I have a Corbin Hollywood Classic and my "but" never complainted... neather did my wife since she is not allowed on the bike. She's driving my BMW 540i
Sorry, but apparently my sense of humor is not the same as yours... I meant to a little sarcastic... and please stop using FREAKING words... it's not very nice. I could be offended:clap: !

I assume that my uncultured American self should be paying homage to you because the rallies you've attended are important enough to be spelled out in all caps? Or perhaps I should bow down in capitulation at your 5 series Bimmer? Or at your complete dominance of your wife?
I think I understand the word "Eurotrash" better now.
Thank you for the education.
For those interested

I bought my seat in Oct. They said no rush but will get busy around Christmas and in spring. I got the seat you see on my Ultra plus the passenger backrest done. I got the heavy duty seating front and back. (extra 45.00 per area) I had them leave the slit in seat just in case I might need or want a backrest again. I do not think this will be needed though. The way this seat is shaped it gives pretty good support to the lower back.
The tops are Leather and got the sides in vinyl. My shipping was about 40.00 each way(Virginia). Took about four weeks, including shipping time. My total, including shipping both ways was just under 900.00. Best seat I have ever owned on any bike.
If you are worried about down time. You can look for a used or torn button/smooth seat from another Ultra or classic 97 and up if you have a newer bike. Buy on Ebay or a site that sells salvaged bikes (Ebay best). Just take your time and then send that one off to Russell, after all they only need the pan. Then sell your good seat on Ebay. That should bring your cost down about 100.00 plus keep you riding till you get your new seat. Enjoy the ride! Ultra04

Hey dude, is you fuse that short or what ?
What i ment is :
1. In Europe we CAPS all important things: SUPERRALLY, FAAKERSEE, GOD, MY WIFE, MY KIDS, SEX, HD, CUNNILINGUS, JAY LENNO, TINTIN, ...
2. in Europe it's rather dangerous to drive with a passenger ( for info: i just had this afternoon a small accident because a car didn't see me ( despite i was in the right). I can hardly accept that since I had all my lights on , it was green for me and red for him, and I have no "baffles" in my Samson pipes ( except a Big City Thunder ( great stuff by the way)).
3. My wife ( and my 2 kids also ) is better protected when driving my beemer...( Why can't she enjoy ?).
4. I didn't want to offend you...
5. The only guys who dominate their wifes live in IRAK, IRAN and TEXAS...
I live in Belgium ... not Kazachstan .

God bless you .

Ok...thanks for all the helpful replies. I'll have to decide between this one and a Mustang, which I also like and will be about half the Russell cost.
i would get rid of the wife, get the new young girlfriend and if the wife is as young as the young girlfriend, keep both and have [email protected]:

merry christmas to all i may have offended, which i did'nt want at all. Maybe i was to sarcastic. HD rules
:banmep:
Merry CHRISTMAS (in what is aparently the European CAPS tradition).
