New news on 2003 Model Year Harley's

OK, so everyone now knows I'm ridding a used Dyna Glide (love it) till my '03 Fatboy arrives (Bike I have been dreaming about for four years now...).

If I could reverse time I would have ordered the FatBoy last year (I didn't think Harley was going to discontinue that "Jade Sunglo Pearl" that I have wanted for so damn long) but I can live with the choice of colors for '03 (No ideal about that "Gunmetal Pearl" but there is always "Luxury Blue" and "Luxury Red") but what scares me is...

Does anyone have any ideals how much "anniversary junk" will be on the '03 bikes? Are the 2003's going to have just a few "100 years of Harley" emblems or are they going to be plastered everywhere (my fear)....

So, my question is, has anyone heard any new news about the 2003 Harley's especially as for the amount of "100 years of Harley" medallions the bikes will have? Any more info would be much appreciated, and Yes, I have read the other threads on the site, just looking for new info J.

Oh....

And Thanks to Everyone in Advance!!! :D
John,

The '02 white pearl Fatboy (FLSTFI) that I passed on is at East Coast Harley in Dumfries, VA
(703)221-3757.

It just came in last Friday and may not even be on the showroom floor yet.

Also, ECHD sells at msrp.

Good luck.

Thanks!

I am on the phone to them in the morning! I have my $500.00 with Rockville Harley who also sell at MSRP plus one year of extended service. I know if I get that Fatboy I can get my bucks back or apply it to some aftermarket parts...

Thanks again for the heads up!

John :)
John,
There are still PLENTY of 2k2 Fatboys to be had, just be more aggressive.
It took 5 months to wrangle mine in the color I wanted, but it's worth it in the long run...Persistence!!!!

Here's what I KNOW:

All 2003 MY (model year) motorcycles will be 100th identified, but none will be numbered as limited edition models.

The Two Tone (Sterling Silver & Vivid Black) anniversary bikes will have the highest anniversary content.

Here's my GUESSES:

The Two-Tone will have tank badges, fender badges and special pinstripes.
The Gunmetal Pearl or Black will have tank badges.
The Red, Blue or Black will just have decals.

I hope this helps!

You are a life saver.... At least this gives me an ideal on what they might be doing and I can live with some modest "100th" stuff as long as it does not jump out at anyone...

Checked on that bike shop in VA, and they claim they don't know of a Pearl White FatBoy that arrived on Friday... Ummmm.....

John
Really?

Typical dealer shenanigans.
From what I have heard, for the first few months on the 2003 model year Harly will only be producing bikes in three colors ( Black, a new gun metal Gray and onle other color that they have not yet announced) These models also will have factoy accessories on them such as the Custom Vehicle Operation bikes now produced (FXDWG3 and FLHRSEI Screamin' Eagle Road King) Sounds expensive to me!
2003 Colors

The Motor Company sent all Dealers a letter listing the colors for the 2003 models. You can check with your dealer to confirm this. I saw our dealers letter.

Colors are as follows:

Vivid Black & Sterling Silver Two-Tone
Gunmetal Pearl
Vivid Black

Luxury Rich Red
Luxury Blue
Pearl White

The Red, Blue or White bikes will not be available until the 2nd phase(October)

The only exceptions are:
888R will be Orange & Black
V-rod will be available in Black & Silver or Aluminum
CVO bikes will have custom paint jobs.

As far as all bikes being accessorized like the current CVO bikes, I'm guessing but seems like that would be a little tough on production???

Check out my response from back in April. It was written right off the fax.

Here is a copy.

April 9, 2002

To: All U.S. Harley-Davidson Dealers and Deeley Imports Canada

Subject: Colors for 100th Anniversary Motorcycles

Dear Dealer:

In advance of next week's Town Hall meetings, we'd like to provide you with information on the colors for the 100th Anniversary 2003 Model Year motorcycles. We hope this information will be helpful in working with your customers as they make motorcycle purchase decisions.

To commemorate "100 Years of Great Motorcycles," we are excited to offer 100th Anniversary identification on all 2003 models. The colors that make up the 100th Anniversary product line are:

Sterling Silver & Vivid Black - New two-tone color combination for the 100th Anniversary.
Gunmetal Pearl - New color for the 100th Anniversary.
Vivid Black
After Phase I, we will offer motorcycles with three solid carryover colors that will not have the same 100th Anniversary content as above. These colors are:

Luxury Blue Pearl
Luxury Rich Red Pearl
White Pearl
The SportsterÒ 883R will continue to be offered in the current Orange & Black paint scheme. The VRSCA V-RodÔ , in its second year, will be offered in the new Sterling Silver & Vivid Black color treatment and in Anodized Aluminum.

Attached is a 2003 Model Year color grid that demonstrates which colors will be offered for each model. Color charts will be provided to you in late May.

JFScheck,

I was down at ECHD on Friday, the white pearl FatBoy I ordered was sitting on the showroom floor with a SOLD tag on it. Go figure.

Chesapeake HD lists 5 new Fatboys for sale on their web site, check it out.

Going over there after work with the wife unit! Thanks!!!

Just got word from local dealer that the colors and all badging will be released at the Dealer show in middle of June....

Sounds like this so far:

Release schedule one of the bikes will consist of the "Black and Silver" with heavy badging, "Black" and "Gun Metal Pearl" (still waiting to see what this color is) with some badging...

Release schedule two will in-clude "White Pearl", "Lux Red" and "Lux Blue"

Still can't find a '02 "Jade Glow" around the area, but am eyeballing a possible '02 White Pearl....

Thanks to everyone who has been such a help with this Thread!

I cant wait to see the gunmetal paint.
Dealer Show

The Dealer show is in the middle of July (13 - 16) not June.

The Red, Blue, or White, will start in the second phase (October) These colors will be very limited!
Then I better either find me a Jade Sunglo or like that "Pearl Gunmetal"...:(
