So, I was traveling last week and saw a neat looking 1200 Sportster in Indonesia. Lots of variations over anything I've seen in the US. The throttle body turned up under the tank and the air box/air filter was under the tank. The tank was a slightly elevated (to make room for the air box) slimmed down version, looking more like an older peanut tank, but with a central mounted aircraft type filler cap on top. The swingarm was much beefier, and had a billet look. The coil was centrally mounted between the jugs, and had an updated appearance. The bike had a factory oil cooler. The exhaust looked more like a cross between a FatBob and a cylindrical V-rod exhaust. The rear fender was bobbed and the seat looked more like an old 750R seat. The engine case was subdued with additional detailing. It had a bunch more variations and nice styling touches throughout the bike. It was really a good looking machine. I wonder how long till HD brings some of these styling and functional touches back to the domestic Sportster...

saw an article in a magazine from HD recently, I think it was the motorcycle enthusiast mag.

That is the bike. The one I saw was not blacked out or XR orange. It had a little more chrome and a pretty good paint job and if even I picked up the attempt at creating a XR750 update, I guess they achieved their goal. It was definitely different, and it did look like it could give a sportbike a run for its money. Purely FWIW - on the floor it looked much better than in the pictures. Also, at 17500 Australian, that should be about 12,070 USD. Not cheap, but not exorbitant. Personally, I'd probably buy one if it were available here...
