Kinda new to VTF, and I haven't seen anything in the Southeast forum specific to the Carolinas, so I thought I'd start one up!

I found a link to a great site that updates events in the Carolinas. Here is the link:

Carolina Motorcycle Events

I live on the north side of Charlotte, and can't wait for warmer weather. Maybe we can get a VTF group together for a few rides next year!

Reply and let us know where you're from!

I'm in, thanks for the link, some good info for our area. I'm putting a ride together for mid may about 2 weeks out to the Grand canyon. I put it out on VTF and got a few responses. 4 confirmed so far. Wanna ride?

Welcome Sheriff.

Does your Dyna have the mags chromed? If it wasn't for the wing emblem on your battery cover I'd swear you had my brothers twin. He has a '01 SG with chromed mags.

Peacemaker,

I live in Mooresville myself and so does my brother. We live off of Perth Road, where are you at?

May 12-21 is Myrtle Beach Bike Week. I'd love to ride to the Grand Canyon myself, but Bike Week is a must for me.

Then of course, there's Daytona Bike Week (March 3-12), Sturgis (August 7-13), and finally Myrtle Beach Fall Bike Week (October 4-8).

Oh yeah, and there's also little things like the Cherokee Rally (April 28-30), and the NC HOG Rally in Asheville (June 8-10).

Let me know if you change dates, though - with a new Road King under me this year, I'll take any excuse to ride!

A Grand Canyon ride sounds fantastic! But we have scheduled a family vacation for this May. May is the month with all of our birthdays, so it stays reserved for the family for any big trips!:happybd:

My buddy picke the dates. They dont want it to hot out west, it is subject to change though and if it does I will post it. I went to the Cherokee rally this year and it was pretty good, Just enough people to have fun.

Relatively new here myself. Have been lurking about for the past 6 months, but don't post much. Might be interested in a local VTF gathering, especially in the western part of the state. Love mountain riding, even on my Ultra.

Live on the Eastern side near Greenville, NORTH Carolina. (we have an identity crisis here)

Good to hear from the Sheriff.

My intent was to stir the NC/SC pot a little. Looks like it worked. Sounds like there are enough folks out there that are always looking for an opportunity to ride. If you know of a local ride or you just want to set-up a day ride yourself, post a thread here on the Southeast Forum. To make it easy for everyone to find it, begin the thread title with [NC/SC].

Hope everyone has a Safe and MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hey Sheriff, This is a good way to hook up for local rides. Maybe we can get our own thread, the Virginia guys just did it.

Mike, I have a son at ECU. Saw a hat the other day that said "East Carolina University. A drinking school with a football problem" :D

2kflhr and Peacekeeper, I am just a stone's throw north of ya'll in the great metropolitian of Statesburg. If ya'll feel like some day rides, let me know. I can put you on some pretty neat roads not far from here.

I'm in Southern Pines. Local rides are usually around the Uwharrie area (good riding for the Buell). Weekenders usually take me to the mountains, sometimes to the coast. I look forward to meeting ya'll.
Sprung,
I was just lookinmg at some maps of the Uwharrie area. Looks pretty interesting. Not too far from Charlotte. Might be a good meeting spot for a long day ride. We could meet and then you could show us the area.

Uwharrie area overall has a few nice roads, but not really what u picture when u see the map. Lots of local scooter folk do meet on top of Mt Morrow right outside of Albemarle and the roads in that immediate area are decent. U ride to the top of the lil mountain up a nice twisty and theres a helluva view and a huge parking lot, restrooms, and trails and its usually full of scooters when the weather is nice. I make that run a few times a year when its a bit chilly to hit the parkway.

A great run for our area is out SC 11 just south of Charlotte, we take it all the way to where SC, NC and GA meet and then come back into NC through the foothills. Lots of great waterfalls to stop at and there is this awesome place to eat called the Dillard house in Dillard Ga. They just keep bringing the grub, no menus, just lots of good food and riding!
Anybody up for it the next nice day?
