Was just in MB 3 days and in speaking with the business owners it kind of put a personal touch to it. I'm still undecided about where to spend my lodging and chow $ but I really hate it for the folks that're gonna get boycotted because of the actions of 2 troublemaking groups (punks and politicians). Been checking room rates and availability in North Myrtle and the South End in the meantime.

It's truly a shame when 2 other groups (non-lawbreakers & business owners) get hosed b/c of the actions of the above-mentioned turds.

We could all hope for a drastic change in the politicians thinking couldn't we?

Hello to all. I live just outside of Myrtle Beach and like most people around here, I'm really PO'ed at what is going on in the city MB.

Just in case that any of you don't know or are not familiar with the area, the ordinances are just for the city limits of MB. Sometimes, the whole area around here is called "Myrtle Beach" but there are several cities that make up the whole Grand Strand. The city of Myrtle Beach is only a small part of the area. The surrounding areas are still very biker friendly and have done nothing to run anyone off.

Since MB wants to get rid of bikers, many of us are going to give them what they want. We will not enter the city limits and will spend no money there. You can get anything that you want or need outside the city limits and it is very easy to get from one end of the Strand to the other without going through MB.

The cities of Little River, North Myrtle Beach, Garden City, Murrells Inlet are all embarassed at what MB is doing. I live here and I refuse to spend a penny or even enter Myrtle Beach. After the city loses its butt on taxes and the business complain about lost income during a very profitable time, maybe they will finally figure it out.

If you decide to come to the Spring Rally, and it is still going to happen, just make sure to book your room outside MB. Many hotels are letting people know this upfront. Ride safe.

I live here and this sh!t sux. There are plenty of other places besides Myrtle Beach. Surfside Beach, Murrells Inlet, Little River, Calabash. There are alot of places to ride down her that do not include Myrtle Beach. There are ways of avoiding the City of Myrtle Beach too. Take Rte 31 from Little River to Murrells. The real problem is the Atlantic Bike Week.Living here I see all the trash these people leave when they're done. Restauraunts actually close their doors because of the chew and screws. It's sad that no one will grow a set and call a spade a spade.
Absolutely! I would say the better events / venues are NOT within Myrtle Beach city limits. Since the Hard Rock park closed, the only other BIG gathering spot is at Broadway at the Beach.

I do feel sorry for some of the business owners inside the city limits but, when there were town council meetings and forums to stand up and be heard, almost no business owners even bothered to attend. Myself and many friends and other bikers went to several of the meetings to show our support. Financially, we didn't have anything to gain or lose by attending. It was very disappointing that the business owners remained quiet. They had a chance to speak up, the didn't use it.

Since you are in the thick of things, Is Hwy 17 Bypass inside or outside the Myrtle Bch city limits? If so, what's the best way to get around. I have a condo in N. Myrtle Bch, come down for MMB each year & need to get back & forth to the Southside/Garden City, etc.

My understanding is that the city limits starts a bit south of The Doll House & 2001 night club area and runs down to around the airport. What say you?
Also, do you know what the helmet laws will look like in NMB/south of Myrtle Bch, etc?

Thanks,
Huntray.

17 bypass runs thru the "City" of Myrtle Beach. You can avoid 17 bypass by using Rte 31. 31 is a nice ride. Wide open and a 65 mph speed limit. It's a 20 minute ride from north to south.Take that south to 544. Then take 544 right into Surfside Beach. Surfside Beach DOES have a noise ordinance so take it kinda easy thru there. They won't mess with you unless you're really on it thru the gears. Murrells Inlet is just south of Surfside Beach. Garden City is just south of that. Surfside and Murrells are both great places to be. The HD dealer in surfside usually has alot going on. So far so good on the lid law north and south of the "city".

Thanks! Am I right as to where the city limits start & stop?

Wake up !

They've got us going around in circles. There is no more myrtle beach. It is now LittleRiverBikeWeek or MurrellsInletBikeWeek.
Next thing you know they'll invent some insane idea like having bike week in some place that isn't even a place - like New Bern! Wake up! It's LittleRiverBikeWeek or MurrellsInletBikeWeek. Somebody man up and choose one!

I think the most important thing we can do is attend the ralley and avoid all businesses and hotels within the city limits. We will be going to the South side and spending our money there. Here is a detailed map of the actual city limits. Please, everyone attend and boycott the city. Let them count the loss.

Why pick one? It's not about the destination, it's about the ride. Why name it at all? Riding the Grand Strand is great. It's a nice ride from Little River to Murrells Inlet. 31 is 3 lanes with no traffic. I'm looking forward to getting some good pics from an overpass. Everybody come and have a good time. Don't worry about Myrtle Beach. By the time the rally gets here, the State will have overturned all of their ordinances. They've already said it breaks the State Constitution.
