Say All,
Just enrolled in this forum, nice to be here, My name is Mike and I live in
the greater Boston area.
Although I've been ridin' motorcycle for about 35 years or so I've only
recently bought my first new Harley. I am currently the owner of a new
2002 Road King, carbed motor, SE stage 1 kit, otherwise stock. She's
Concord Purple Pearl and doesn't get lost to easy in a crowded parking lot, color stands right out!
My first bike was in 1966, it was a Honda 305 scrambler. Rode the hell out of it that summer. The next year a bought a BSA Lightning, the foot
control levers were on the opposite sides, rear brake left foot, shift lever
right foot. Confusing! Wound up hitting the sign that read "Keep Off Median Strip" while cruising down the median strip to beat the traffic going to Cape Cod that summer. First bike related broken bones!
Next was a Triumph Bonne chopper. Kicked out front end, coffin tank,
metal flake paint, looked beautiful. Never ran right when/if it ran at all.
And so on and on.....Couldn't do the shovel head thing. I mean when I pick
up a wrench mothers grab thier small children and flee!! It's a wise man
that knows his limitations. I'll put it like this: everytime I try to fix any-
thing it gets more broken....I mean MUCH more broken. I know, sounds
like a RUB or dreaded yuppie biker, but I don't own a trailer and I have
5000 miles on my 3 month Road King. I ride 12 months a year, I don't own a battery charger! I'm just NOT a wrench.
Had a couple of Kawasakis KZ900 in the late 1970's used to ride so drunk
I'd wake up in tha morning not having any idea where my bike was. The
scariest part was most of the time it was right outside my door! "Ya mean
I rode my bike home in that condition?". But I was livin' in Hollywood, Fla.
then workin' as a bouncer in a 23 hr a day strip joint....Nekked woman, all
the booze my liver could take and free parkin'. Had to quit ridin' bike or
drinkin', so I did the sensible thing and quit RIDIN ! Coupla years later me and my liver decided we had to quit drinkin' so got back on a bike. That's been 22 years now and I've been ridin' used Evo's and rice until I
just bought my first Brand New Harley-Davidson. And that's where the story started. Thanx for listenin'. Mike R.
