Looks like a fun project to me, and a non-trivial one at that. 2 gallons won't translate to much range at all before you hit reserve but...
Definitely looks better than I would have guessed. The high skinny tank sure opens up the area over the engine and emphasizes the heart of the motorcycle. Even more so once the tank is painted black. A chrome S&S teardrop air cleaner would complete the effect and balance out your chrome battery cover.
