I'll tell ya dude, for a 50-75 mile trip as a max, you could use a piece of wood for a seat without much bother, go with the one that ya like the looks of the most, because they both make a good product, I don't know any dealers that have a large stock of saddelman seats, but there is a couple of dealers close that have a stock pile of Mustang seats, and they and Mustang will let you take the saet for an extended ride: dealer will let ya take it all day, and I am told the MFG. will extended your ride check longer than that, hope this helps.

I ride a 02 XL 1200 C with the mustang wide vintage and you can not find a better seat ! I took off my stock seat and went with the H-D touring seat first...( it sucks X 5)

 

I've got the Mustang Fast Back seat, on my 99 sporty. I'm 6'1" and that seat lets me sit farther back on the bike, and I like it. lets me stretch out my legs more. I have had the mustang for about 3 years now and it looks brand new. and I have a few mile on it too. I know that the new 04 sportys have different set-ups etc. I have never rode on a aftermarket, non-stock HD seat, so I don't know ride quality, etc on one. BUT I will always try to but a Mustang seat under my butt, on what ever bike I own, or ride.

I have a '99 1200 Custom and I run with the Badlander seat, looks sleeker than the factory seat , you do sit farther back and lower but it is uncomfortable on a long ride. I had a Mustang Regal Duke and it was very comfortable and a quality seat but it didn't look right on my bike.

 

i have a 96 xl 1200. i've tried the badlander, a corbin gunfighter/lady and i currently use a mustang vintage solo with backrest. in my opinion, the corbin is the best looking. i wouldn't buy any harley seats. i think they are junk. i take 200 mile weekend rides. that's why i use the mustang now. you can't beat the mustang for comfort. by the way, i am 6" and 220 lbs. i originally thought that i would want to sit back and down some. the problem seems to be that you can't sit back and down...and have good, long-riding comfort. seems like you are not too worried about long rides...my recommendation is get anything but the harley seat. mustang is probably best.

Hey Moe, glad you're still liking the Mustang seat!! You got it from me last year. I put a Corbin on my Wide Glide and wish now I had got another Mustang, the Corbin is too narrow and hard.

 

I have both a Corbin Gunfighter and a Mustang Vintage Wide Solo with removable backrest. I have the Corbin for when I'm in-state riding. If I'm going to be on the road longer than 3 hours, I slip on the Mustang. HD seats suck IMO.

 

What about the Sundowner seats? I have an 04 custom coming and was going to order a seat to be here when the motorcycle arrives. Mustang doesn't have th 04 seats ready yet and I am also afraid of the new price and waiting time.

I would say for looks you can't beat the corbin gunfither. If you look at the jpeg I posted you can see my new corbin. Like they say. ride what you like.

here is a Mustang Fast Back with a sissy bar and a Bobtail fender. I think I paid around $220 for it a few years back.
