I have them on my 99 XL1200S and my 99 FLHT
pics of the bikes are on my web page - close up of the set up
re-jett is always necessary when you change pipes from stock. The motor is nothing more than an air box, if you change the motors ability to release air, you have to adjust the ability to intake air/gas - so rejetting and freeer flowing air filter is a must.
Bubs are set up for the most common rejetting configurations for the bike you order it for, if you play with jets you can also play with the baffles to **hopefully* achieve the best balance. And yes in tests in some mags bubs added HP when put on the same bike (no additional rejet in other words as the exhaust systems were changed) as other test exhausts - actually any rejet and new exhaust will add HP - the difference (one exhaust to another) is not that noticeable I think from one to another (rich thunderheader the exception) seat of the pants - dyno there is a difference though small.
All pipes turn color to some degree but with heat shields you never notice it - and these don't seem to color as much as some I seen.
the sound is the big difference - as I said a deep burbling when at a steady rpm, and if you suddenly crack the grip it will wake the world - but under steady acceleration it just burbles deeper.
ping me at
[email protected] if you want the url for bubs I see they edit it out of posts - strange - or do a search they have sound clips fro most of their systems I think on thier site. and if the censosr edits out my email you can find it on my web site.
