Hi all, just picked up my 02 FLHTCUI, great bike. Installed Vance and Hines classic slip ons, great sound but a little too loud for me. Any other suggestions for a pipe that has good sound but is a but quieter. Can't hear the damn radio.

By Brother has the same scooter and claimed of same prob. with the Samson rolled pipes. Wonder if some kinda of power booster/amp kinda of device would help.
Kutterharley.com has some pipe sounds on it. I'm contemplating the Hooker for a deep sound for my 02 King.

Just so ya know, I have a 97 Ultra and put the White Brothers Porker pipes on it. They are pretty loud. More so on Highway speeds. It had some type of a kerker muffler on it, and was not much louder than most stock mufflers that I have heard. Good luck, I found mine used on a forum. Some guy had them for only 2500 miles and said they were too quiet, opted for the Samsons. Got them for $100.00

02 FLHT Standard: I also had the Stage 1 and Screaming Eagle slip-ons installed (I think - one of the salespeople told me they were "Kirkers," but I see no reference to that brand in the Harley catalog, and they look just like the Screaming Eagle units).
Because I traded a Honda ST1100 (no noise at all) for it, these pipes sounded loud to me at first. Everyone assures me that they are not, but sound really good. I've gotten used to them, and like the bark they do have when I need it.

Which SE pipes did you install, there are several different sets in the catalog. Do you have the part number or were they the one piece mufflers which did not need end caps?
Thanks

If you have the '02 catalog, they look just like the mufflers on the Utra at the beginning of its section.
Hmmm. Looking at the catalog, I can't tell if they're the 65259-00 (page 52) or the 65115(6)-98A (page 53). Judging by what the cat. says they'll fit, they have to be the ones on page 52??
You definately have to buy end caps for the one's I got.
My receipts don't show information about accessories installed at purchase, otherwise I'd be more specific.

Thanks Rain Rider, I have a set of the 65115-98's and do not like the sound at all, sounds like a pop corn machine on steroids.
Thanks

TOday I found the pipes! Khrome Werks HP-Plus sound real nice a little louder than stock, very deep rumble, matter of fact the deepest I have heard, and they do come alive when you crack the throttle but at cruising speeds just a real nice rumble, can hear my radio again!
If interested I bought these pipes at a local HD specialist, they also have a web site,

pipes

Well I have to recommend Bubs - great deep throaty sound and a gurgling rumble while cruising - they seem to mellow with age.

I have them on both HD's and my SO's vstar

Bubs Pipes

Hey Rustler:

I looked at Bub's site and those pipes look pretty good. I have a silly question or two...

What bikes do you have them on?

Are they a little louder than stock or a lot louder?

Have they turned blue on you?

Did you re-jet and get more power with their pipes?

Thanks,

Bruce W.

I have them on my 99 XL1200S and my 99 FLHT

pics of the bikes are on my web page - close up of the set up

re-jett is always necessary when you change pipes from stock. The motor is nothing more than an air box, if you change the motors ability to release air, you have to adjust the ability to intake air/gas - so rejetting and freeer flowing air filter is a must.

Bubs are set up for the most common rejetting configurations for the bike you order it for, if you play with jets you can also play with the baffles to **hopefully* achieve the best balance. And yes in tests in some mags bubs added HP when put on the same bike (no additional rejet in other words as the exhaust systems were changed) as other test exhausts - actually any rejet and new exhaust will add HP - the difference (one exhaust to another) is not that noticeable I think from one to another (rich thunderheader the exception) seat of the pants - dyno there is a difference though small.

All pipes turn color to some degree but with heat shields you never notice it - and these don't seem to color as much as some I seen.

the sound is the big difference - as I said a deep burbling when at a steady rpm, and if you suddenly crack the grip it will wake the world - but under steady acceleration it just burbles deeper.

ping me at [email protected] if you want the url for bubs I see they edit it out of posts - strange - or do a search they have sound clips fro most of their systems I think on thier site. and if the censosr edits out my email you can find it on my web site.

Rustler, thanks for the reply. I think that the URL was there as I went to it yesterday (or maybe I found it somewhere else - busy day), but now it's been changed to your email address. Strange is right.

Anyway, thanks for the info and you have a good looking website.

I recently put my money down on a 2002 FLHT, should be here in Dec.
Been looking at pipes and was interested in The Samson Silver Bullits, any body familiar with them , kind of wondering what they sound like?

The only reason why we censor urls is because we have vendors and advertisers coming on board soon and it wont be fair to these advertisers to pay for recognition on the site and then to have members innocently post URLs of non-advertising vendors. It would not be fair.

We are just trying to nip it in the bud now so everyone knows.

Thanks for your support

They are Kirkers

Vagabond,
Glad you found you some pipes you like!
FWIW, I asked the Harley dealer what I had on mine.
He confirmed that they were Kirkers, with Harley slash cut (down) end caps. Guess that's why I couldn't find anything like them in the Kirker line, because the end caps didn't match Kirker's. He said that different end caps can make them sound different, if they're restrictive caps.
The dealer rep says they sell a lot of them.
Good rides,

I put a set of Wild Pigs on my '02 FLHRCI. Packed the baffles with V&H quiet packing and they sound perfect. Loud enough to be heard and they growl quite well when you crack it. I had the HD Touring mufflers on and they jsut weren't getting they right sound.

The best thing about the Pigs is the price. $159 on ebay. I saw the same pipes at a custom shop last week for $279 with a different name. Funny that....

Email me if you want the link. They seem to delete urls here. No, I'm not the one selling them. I'm gonna get another set in case these blue up.
