Hi All... Before I install this puppy... Do I still have to get the Stage I and Screamin Eagle air cleaner before I can use the powercommander for the SE II's? Or can I simply tune the bike for the slip-ons without those items? Many Thanks, Dan NM
You can do whatever you want I suppose but high-flow pipes without highflow aircleaner is like putting a fan next to a closed window (just made that one up myself by the way). It can't breath right unless you open bothe ends of the engine. You can however skip the ECM recalibration ....just be sure to use the PC map for the stock ECM. All the recal. gets you is a slightly higher RPM rev limit which is of little use on the street. PC doesn't care what ECM you have as long as you tell it which one.
Thanks Logical... So I should at least get the SE's air cleaner and just use the map for my model bike! Eh? Do you know where I can get the air cleaner? I have J&P Cycle catalog but no such luck! Bueno, Dan NM P.S. I am a real FNG at this
I was just down to the dealership yesterday to pick out parts for the FatBoy I ordered (due in May).
Since I'm a real FNG, I'm starting slow and just went with the SE Stage 1 kit for EFI Softtails (29756-01) and SEII Slip-Fits (80344-00). The dealer included re-flashing the ECM in the price of the stage 1 kit.
PS- In case anybody cares, the factory is apparently shipping 2 weeks ahead of schedule
Hey Wyodude... Thanks for the reply! What color is she coming in? Mine's white pearl. You will love the SE II's. They have a really mellow sound and they're not loud enough to piss any one off yet they will know you're there! I bought the powercommander cause I want to be able to do any EFI tweeking myself, since Santa Fe is 30 miles away and they are slower than a can of worms anyway!
I'm going to call them Monday and get the SE air cleaner. I realized after my last post that if I got the pipes thru the Harley dealer, I should be able to get the aircleaner too! Duh!
The powercommander is one cool item tho! I've been browsing the CD that came with it and it is one cool tool! It installs under the seat and plugs into the ECM. Any time I need to tweek it I simply plug in my laptop and bang away!
Yeah Man, I got really lucky! I went to Santa Fe Harley to order an 02 White Fatboy and they had one there already! I've had it since Dec 14th and have 2200 miles on her now. You are going to love that bike! I've got buku stuff added to my horse and I'm just about done personalizing her! Yeah, Right! Say, how do you put a picture of your bike under your posts? Bueno, Dan NM
