We will be visiting Lake Placid in NY this summer and would like to take a day trip to Montreal. Has anyone visited Montreal? I would like to hear any impressions good or bad of the city and any experiences you have had.

I had a business meeting in montreal a couple years back.

I rode up from VA, crossed at Niagra Falls, then east to Montreal.

I had zero problems entering or exiting Canada. Less than a minute both times I crossed.

Montreal is a beautiful city. Ride wise, it's like riding in any big city so pay attention.

regards,

wyo

Single?

Montreal has a legendary red light district that is worth a visit look for St Catherine's street if I recall.

There is also a nice casino too.

I go to Montreal often on business. There is no shortage of strip clubs there, thats for sure. Wandas is nice, a little bit high class. They have an underground city that is quite busy this time if year. Under each city block is a ton if stores, and each section is connected by a bunch of tunnels. Tim Hortons has the best coffee in all of Canada, so be sure to get some. While you are there, enjoy a nice cuban cigar.

The traffic can be brutal, and be sure to watch out for the potholes. They have a ton.

Beautiful city, friendly people, beautiful women. One of the best party towns I have ever visited. St. Catherines is the hotspot. Not a real red light district like amsterdam (prostitution and narcotics are illegal :whatever: ), but close. ~!Awesome!

Yes, the Buffalo Bike Blast is history. They are having something in Niagara Falls, NY by the Casino in early July. Might be the event they had at Summit Park Mall in Niagara Falls the last couple of years. I did notice they charge admission to some events, I believe mainly the bar area.

We have decided to visit Montreal another time when we can spend at least 2 or 3 days there.

I was up there a few weeks ago, POTHOLES all over the place. I do have a suggestion, when you get up to the border, get off at the exit to Rouses Point, get gas (station to the right) and then continue east until you go about 2 miles (I think 276), make a left and cross the border there. After you cross the border continue going until you see a flashing yellow light, make a left there and go west until you pick up 15 north. Come back the same way. This can sometimes save hours on the border specially during the high season.

As has been mentioned, the roads in the city are really bad although taking 15 north isn't all that bad excpet for the construction they do in the summer. Also, often there is a lot of wind (from the west) until you get up the the bridge into the city and it is a really messed up intersection. After you get over the bridge, it is ever more screwed up. They have signs but if your heading north you need to get off something like exit 57 and then get in the left lane. I will say, it will be worth the trip
