My closest dealer quotes $167 (74540-01) out the door and an Indy shop quotes $78 for an aftermarket regulator (Prob. CC or DS) for my '02 FLSTF.

Anyone have experience with one over the other? Half the price is significant but I don't want to end up stranding myself at some point in the future if the aftermarket parts suck.

I surfed about and considered Cycle Electric's stuff, but read that it might not fit with my oil cooler adapter. Their products sound like a good choice none the less.

Ended up finding a great deal on a genuine MoCo voltage regulator and stator. I noticed the burned hoo-haa smell when I opened up the primary to re torque the comp nut. That, and the weak battery issues started around that time, leading me to believe that the stator might have been damaged by the rattling assembly.

Either way, money's spent and it'll only take an hour or so to get it all back together.

Just want reliability again..
