Mirrors--What do think?

1011 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  SSC
I have the stock tear shaped mirrors on my ultra. I have ridden with them for awhile and I can't get used to them. On my FLSTC I have the stock rectangular mirrors and they give me a great field of view.

I have looked at the fairing mirrors and didn't quite like them. The only Harley mirrors that seem to work are over $200. I prefer to give as little money to stealers as possible and $200 for mirrors rubs me the wrong way.

Has anyone used any aftermarket mirrors that they would recommend?

Check out Kuryakyn.com. I've used their magnum mirrors before and liked them. They look almost like the stealership ones and are realistically priced.
Stanc,
Thanks for the reply. Those are the mirrors I am looking at. Did you like the long or standard stems.

Thanks, SSC
I had mine on a Springer Softail and I think I had the long stem. There are usually quite a few on ebay. My son had put the H-D ones on his Springer and I got mine for around 40 bucks. Very little difference. He wished he had checked with me before spending the $200. :D Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!
While I wouldn't try to talk anyone into something they are not comfortable with, I am extremely pleased with the fairing mirrors I mounted on my Ultra. I augmented them with a set of clip on Saengs. While I sport the profile of Mickey Mouse with the Saengs, my rearward and lateral visibility is now very large. Saengs were not purchsed because the fairing mounts did not do the job - this set-up gives me the competitive edge - no more blind spots.
I know you said you did not want to spend a lot, so I am probably waisting your time, but I have the Muth (spelling?) Signal Mirrors on my 03 Ultra and I think they are great. They are good size mirrors to begin with, but they have the LED turn signals in the mirror, and also on the front of the mirror. They make you that much more visable, and for me thats worth the cost.

I can vouch for the Magnums also, they matched the billet look of my extended shift arms and brake lever. I liked the standard stem put them on the bike and missed the wide angle view.:nope: I bought the replacement convex mirrors and bolted em on. I like the way their tucked in, yet I still have good visibility.
