Thought I would share this, because I was doing it today. It might not he for every one or not every one may like the look, but it's always bugged me that the mount for the adjustment latch is hidden and hard to use while sitting on the bike, and my solution was to install it in the mid frame air deflector it's self which is simple enough to do...

Remove or take the bracket the latch goes in and place it over the deflector and use it as a template to scribe it..










Tape it off and drill holes big enough in the center of the square and use a hack saw blade to cut it out..

Then drill The holes after installing it and use the same hardware provided to install the in the bracket but install it in the deflector instead

Then remount the air deflector using the original provided hardware for the deflector, and route the cable to the backrest mount per the installation instructions..

I had to check out this thread just to see why your frame was mid air.
