Well, I posted about this event a year ago. It's back. Bigger & better than ever. Hope you can make it!

OK, it's time: 2/28, 3/1 & 3/2/03. Mardi Gras, Ensenada, MX. LV San Diego, CA H/D on 2/28 AND 3/1 for Ensenada, Baja, MX. (Ride leaves both Friday & Saturday.) Lobster on the way. World famous "skull" ceremony on the return ride on Sunday.

Hotels sell out in Ensenada. Make a reservation! Host hotel is: Mission Santa Isabella 011526461783345 King room (one bed) is $55/night 2 queen beds, $75/night jr. suite $95/night.

If you haven't ridden into Mexico before, this is your chance. If you have, you know El Jefe. He "sponsors" this ride/event. Party at host hotel.

Yeah, yeah, the weather has been bad this week. BUT remember it's very likely the weather will be great again by the end of the month.

Why don't ya' plan to go on down to Ensenada, Baja, MX for some lobster at the Mardi Gras? Think about it. Escorted ride. Big party. Hmmmm.

I would suggest that if you plan to go, you should make a hotel reservation. Rooms in Ensenada get scarce during Mardi Gras.

Lisa and I will be making a long weekend of it.

Jim,

I'd never heard of it before, so thanks for the info! I'll be out of town this year, but it's on my '04 list! Do they have a website?

Have a blast! I'm looking forward to reading about your trip!

No WEB site, Steve. It's a pretty low tech operation.

The locals in Ensenada put on a parade and show in honor of Mardi Gras. The bikers, usually a group of 200-300, ride down and hang out. Sometimes the bikers lead the parade through town. It ends up near the famous Hussong's Cantina, with (Mexican) bands and dancing in the street.

The bikers have usually taken over a hotel with a courtyard and hang out there. Cheap beer & "tacos" are available. Notice I didn't say "cheap" tacos. :D

We may post about it after the trip.

Thanks Jim! With tacos, like most things, you generally get what you pay for! No cheap tacos for me!!

Greg, I've got my list of Ensenada hotels at the office. I'll be leaving this weekend for a business trip and won't be back in there for a few days. I've got all my tel. #'s there. You may want to try the Hotel Corral & Marina (very nice but very pricey!), Hotel Costa Baja Inn, Ensenada Travel Lodge, or El Cid Best Western. I've staid at all those places and they are all at least acceptable with the Corral being a VERY good spot.

I found a couple 800 numbers tonight. TravelLodge 800/578-7878. Baja Inn Hotel Cortez: 800/303-2684. Baja Inn Hotel San Tomas: 800/303-2384. La Pinta Hotel: 800/542-3283. And you could elect to stay in Rosarita Beach, about 50 miles north. The Rosarita Beach Hotel is pretty well known. I'd only suggest that if you're going down for one day.

Let us know if you're going and we'll see if we can confirm logistics.
