Well, after 100+ posts, it dawned on me I never formally introduced myself (I've always managed to eek by the formalities).
Unlike many here, I didn't grow up around bikes. I didn't even learn how to ride a bicycle till I was 8. My oldest brother (10 yrs my senior) was "the black sheep" and had homemade tats and rode a motorcycle nearly all his life. One day he came home when I was approaching my 10th birthday and he sat me on his bike when it was fired up. I was instantly in love. I grew older and hung out with an assorted mix of people, including bikers. I joined the military, did my time, spent most of my money fixing up muscle cars. When I moved back to the midwest, I re-joined my brother who was already here. Mainly my focus was on music...singing and guitar. I've been a musician since I was 15. I hung out with his friends from ABATE and Milwaukee Iron as well as some other smaller biker sects. Although I'm not nearly as gruff looking and bikeless, I was one of them. I look out for my own if they were family. Hanging out with that bunch gave me an old school mentality for biking. We didn't care for windshields or crotch rockets, we didn't want every piece of clothing to say HD, and we didn't sit in judgement of others. All were welcome. If you were out of line in the group.....there was no fight.....but you'll be buying drinks for awhile. I've slowly learned to wrench on bikes throughout these past 5 years with my brother. He's used to work for the HD shop and realized he could make more on his own. I try and take it all in. Helped him wrench when I could although I technically hadn't ridden a bike more than 2 miles. Shut up and learn.
I've been pretty fortunate the past few years and got to have my music career blossom a bit more and finally got to the point where I could fulfill a dream since I was 10. I tried to get a 2003 Fatboy...but due to finances, I just got the '03 1200 Custom. Considering it's my first bike, I think it'll do fine. I have a sarcastic wit. I like to give others a good ribbing but I take it just as well. I don't take offense to much and if you're ever in my neck of the woods...look me up....we'll have a brew.
