I just bought the Gold LRB pads. Gonna put them on tomorrow. Break-in procedure on the package reads...

FOR BEST RESULTS BREAK-IN PROCEDURE MUST BE FOLLOWED PRECISELY:

1) 10 stops from 20 to 0 mph at .45G (15fpss) decel.
2) 10 stops from 40 to 0 mph at .45G (15fpss) decel.
3) Cool down to ambient temperature.

(If break-in procedure is not followed. warranty is void)

...So has anybody installed these and did you follow the process "precisely"?

That's one of the reasons we all recommended the Z Pads...

I don't have any problem with following the procedure, I just want to know if folks have followed it and what the outcome was/is. I figure you just break as hard as you can without locking it up from the mph specified. -Thanks

I had tires put on at the dealership once and took in the gold pads in at the same time and had them put on. I did the "break in" runs in their large parking lot on the way out. No big deal,only took a few minutes.The pads work great.
I'll be changing again soon and I'll probably use the Z pads next.

My math may be off base but I get :
20 mph = 29.3333 ft per sec. so stop from 20 mph within 30 ft.
5280x20mph = 105600 ft.per hr. / 60 = 1760 per min / 60 = 29.3333 per sec. ???
40 mph = 58.6666 ft per sec. so stop from 40 mph within 59 ft.
I have also read that it is normal for the Z pads to be smoking (literally) at the end of this routine

I did the break in. the 40 mph was bit of pain.

The Z Pads do not require the routine.
