Just checking to see if anyone has a solo seat they would like to sell that would fit my 2001 FXD, or know of any great deals that might be out there. I an having a hard time buying a new one and spending so much for something I will use only occasionally.
Thanks,

Welcome to the forum sglide. I don't have a solo seat for sale but I see a few now and then on Ebay.

Thanks for the picture link. I love to see what others' have done to their bike. I see alot of changes from that side alone. I love to try and find them all. Making changes/adding to a bike is fun isn't it! You have a very nice looking ride.

Later,
FifthGear,
Thanks for the hospitality! I have done quite a bit to my FXD. I started with laced wheels and then:
S&S Carb (why not start with a carb that can be used if I modify later)
Cycle Shack pipes. I then replaced as many stock black parts with chrome parts and still working on that, I did not want to add any bolt on chrome covers. I enjoy the FXD, the ride, the handleing and being able to make it look how you want from the ground up, maybe next year the chrome engine kit.....maybe... anyways here are a couple more pictures.
Thanks again,
Ernie

Hey sglide, you got yourself a good looking scoot. As far as the solo seat goes, take your factory seat off and look at the back fender. On my FXD the factory seat has worn two spots on the fender to bare metal. If I put a solo seat on mine the two spots would be out in the open. Hopefully your seat hasn't done that to your fender, but I have the exact same bike as you so I wouldn't doubt it. Also if you ever take your sissy bar off you will notice how the uprights have scratched your fender also.Needless to say my back fender will be at the paint shop before summer.
Good Luck !!!! :D
bub,
I do have sime minor scuff marks under the seat, I never even thought about the sissy bar marks.....I will probably end up leaving the stock seat on or possibly getting a lower profile two seater. My wife rides most of the time with me, so the solo is really not a high priority project.

Do you have any pictures of your FXD that you can post? If not what are some of things you have done to it? I would not trade mine at the moment for any other......I might add the chrome engine kit but I still do not know if that is the look I want ( it will be easier to shine though ). I may have some engine work down the road but again do not at this point think it is neccessary for my style riding...

Anyway thanks for the heads up!!

Hey sglide,my bike is pretty much stock other than a few add ons: Cycle Shack slip ons,S.E. air filter,Yost Power Tube,Kuryaken Iso grips, two different windshields, and Leather Lyke hard bags.I wasn't happy with any of the shields or the bags. That was kind of a expensive learning process. I would like to add forward controls and maybe a different handlebar. How is the S&S carb working out for you? Are those the Kuryaken forward controls? Thanks for the input!! :D
bub,
The S&S is great, I had it put on before I took the bike home from delivery. I first thought about a thunder slide kit and a Screaming eagle air box, but for a little more than a hundred dollars, I could run the S&S. The biggest advantage was that I could use it down the road if I do any engine moifications. I started with Screaming Eagle II slip-ons and did not like the look so I went to the Cycle Shack pipes. With the pipes and S&S I picked up a little over 10hp from stock, and the bike runs great with my wife and I thundering down the highway with out any effort.

Those are Kuryakyn extended forward controls with HD Airfoil pegs and stirrups. I am 6' tall and am glad I went with the extended style, Kurykayn suggest them for inseams of 32" or greater. I liked the look of them better than HD's. I think any brand forward control is a definite for our bike.

I thought about putting 4" risers and keeping the same flat bar, I actually tried it and did not like the look at all, which gave me the motivation to replace the stock black parts with chrome parts to lighten that front area up.

Anyway here are a couple more pics of those specific areas I mentioned.

LePera Bare Bones are not real expensive. Look on Ebay.
LePera Bare Bones. It’s firm and comfortable around where I ride. I haven’t been on a cross country tour on it yet.
