I looked all thru this forum..and didn't see anything that would help me... was wondering what should I use on my saddle bags ...to clean them..and keep them looking like New?? thanks...

Hey girl... If you really want to get something that is real good for the leather, where it keeps the color in it, as well as moistureizing it, get ahold of some Doc Bailey's.... Cleans, colors, nourishes and Protects the leather..... Easy to use and you don't use a lot.... Just my .02 worth..... That and 95 cents, you got a cop of coffee....
I have some stuff I bought off the internet called "Liquid Leather". Always used it on the Conolly Leather in my Jaguar. The stuff is amazing for keeping the leather soft & supple. I used Lexol letaher claner to clean with, as it is PH balanced, then followed up with the Liquid Leather working it in with my fingers. I still use the stuff on my leather MC jacket, chaps, gloves, etc. If you are interested I can find a link to it.

Been using Doc's for almost 6 years now.... My leathers are getting better and better as the time goes on... Only treat them twice a year.... keeps the color nice and the leather sft and water repellant....

Devilhog, I was introduced to it at bike week, free aplication on your boots. I liked it and bought some. I used it as directed on my red wing boots in the same enviroment as I always have. Within a few months for the first time in using red wing boots the leather cracked and developed holes. Maybe it's better on jackets or ???? I'm not taking any chances on my expensive boots and jackets. I'll send it to you good luck enjoy !!!
Saddle soap is hard to beat for cleaning. I put mink oil on my saddlebags and let them set a day or two if the weathers cooler. It will soak in. Then I buff with a towel. On hot days, I smear on the mink oil and let em set in the sun. The oil gets good and greasy and soaks in great. Then I buff them.
For stiff leather (like bags) I'm wary of some conditioners. I don't want the leather to soften and sag on my bags. I rubbed some snow seal on my bags after warming them in front of the wood stove (not hot, just warm). Snow Seal is a soft sticky wax but it isn't sticky once it soaks in and dries. It doesn't soften the leather too much and ought to keep my bags from getting soaked by the rear tire spray.

I'm guessing that the little tub of crap (apparently) that came in the bags on my'03 RKC is just that; or is this just another case of us HD owners always having to find a "better" usually more exspensive way to do things??
Has anyone used the HD stuff with bad/good results?? If it s*cks than it s*cks- period. I know I would much rather grab a tub at the dealership for six bucks than run all over looking for more "exotic" high priced conditioners/cleaners. Only if it works of course ;-)

Following up from the above post, anybody know what is in the little tub of "Leather Dressing" wax-looking stuff that came with my H-D leather bags (new on Ebay....$380 instead of $600)? It looks like it does the job....bags looks great after use, but I wonder if Lexol is better. I use Lexol on our Vette seats, but the bags see much more severe conditions.

I use Kiwi mink oil in a can from the grocery store on all my external leather (boots, Jacket,pants and chaps). I detail vehicles as a side business and my customers are happy with the mink oil on the leather saddle bags. For interior leather such as car seats, I use Lexol products. Mink oil or snow seal work great to keep the leather soft and waterproof.
