Okay, I've lost my mind....

Bike is a 1996 HD Hertiage Softail Nostalgia, FLSTN

My right side front fork was leaking...

So I pulled it off the bike.

The top nut was loose, and I wondered if that's all it was, but I figured "Hey, I've come so far, may as well replace the o-ring in the top."

Okay, so I did that.

By the way, you can get it apart real easy, but putting it back together was really hard... I don't have the fork compressor tool.

Anyway, I get the bike back together, and ride it today...

Still leaking. As bad as before, maybe worse.

What's going on here???

Is something screwed up inside that fork???

Or???

I am open to suggestions. I'm stumped.

Thanks.

There's a seal inside the tube and a wiper, the wiper probably has been damaged by wear and tear. You need to replace both sides with a rebuild kit. MCO calls for forks to be serviced every 20,000 miles...

Thanks for your reply.

I did the total rebuild of both forks... fixed!

The old stuff looked fine, but something must have been wrong, because it's fine now.

Thanks again. Never heard of the rebuild at 20,000 deal...
