I need to change my handlebar controls (switches, levers, etc.) Has anyone put late model controls (96-up) on an older fatboy?

I wouldn't think it would be a big deal, I just want someone to tell me that it isn't before I buy the controls.

thanks

It certainly wouldn't be a "plug and play" deal. You'd have to buy the master cylinder and clutch perch as well, for them to mate with the switch housings.

Also, you'd have to change the electrical connectors on the new units to match the old connectors (new is Deutch, old isn't). Probably could reuse your old connectors though.

But for some money and a little time, it's certainly doable, just not sure you're skill level.

skill level is pretty good.
Was planning on changing everything (mc, levers, etc.) anyway.

so just change out the connectors and I am good to go?

If your skill level is pretty good, I'd say you were okay. Not sure if they changed any wire colors when they changed from the old style to the new style, but service manuals should help you on that. Otherwise, I think all is the same.

It should be a fun project for you, let us know how it works out.
