The CV carb I put on my 57 was the best running and easiest starting carb I've tried. It takes a little tweaking to get it tuned right, but worth it IMO.

CV is a great carb !! however almost any of the popular carbs work fine on that type motor. You want one with a working pump Don't use the 1st cv it had no pump 1988. S&S and bendix allow you to adjust the amount the pump squirts that helps starting the rest of the jetting is easy keep kicking

I had the dinosaur Linkert M-74B on my panhead.
It is not the carb, but the tune. Mine was kicker only,
twin points, twin coils, 6 volt electrics. It was a 1 kick
pan, once you turned the ignition on, and retard the timing.
Every kicker starts differently. Once you learn how to start your machine, it is pretty easy.

I gotta agree.I had the Linkerts on my 41 and 52 and they were fine as long as the tune was up.When it got really cold I believe the pumper would be a plus.

I ran a Bendix on the Pan for a short while and it worked fine but at that time I was into trying to keep it stock and trying to run the Bendix off from the hard fuel lines without ruining stuff,....I took it off.
