How does a fellow join a local HOG Chapter anyway? I got my national membership when I bought my new scoot last May. The HOG Chapter associated with my dealership doesn't seem to do any outreach that I can see to take in new members.

Do I just like crash the party or what? :hmmm:

Crash

Sounds like thats what you need to do (the HOG club, not the bike!). Hard to understand why the Dealer and the HOG club don't try and get you to join up.:dunno: Since we moved after I bought the scoot, I decided to visit several of the HOG chapters in the area, and actually joined one that is not the closest to home. The Dealer provides the club a list of new owners, and we try and make contact with them to tell them about the group. Go ahead, crash the party.

Ride Safe.

If you want to find out about your local hog chapter ,,, just ask about it at the parts counter.......I know our dealer has applications that you can pick up from the parts counter guys ,,, i am sure that they can hook you up with the phone number of one of the primary officers to find out about their next event , ride or whatever .....You will meet some great people in your local hog chapter ,, their mission statment is pretty simple ,, do alot of riding and have fun......So many times guys have trouble getting the wife to go riding .... you join your local chapter and poof .... the wife will get to know other ladies who ride with their hubby or ride their own machines .....My wife wasnt that interested in riding with me until we joined the local chapter .... now she has over 40,000 miles of long distance touring miles on the back of our glide ... just a warning ,, when you join hog and your wife starts riding alot with you ,,, expect to end up buying a dresser ..... they love them little arm rests and the smooth comfortable ride .. and that big tour pack...... rat

My local dealer/chapter sent me an invite to thier first annual CHristmas party which I thought was rather nice. During that event they mentioned that Jan. was new member month and to plan on attending the meeting in Jan if we were interested in joining, as well as engoraging current members to bring in new ones.

I have read all the threads here about the good and bad of Hog, but I always need to see for myself. The chapter here is fairly new and seem like a nice enough group. Time will tell...........its only 20 bucks to find out and I have blown more then that on a cheap date.?prty:
My dealership

The dealership that I bought my bike from gave me a packet that was for National HOG plus the associated local Chapter. In my area we have several local chapters to choose from. My choice was based on how much riding they did plus how dedicated they were to riding safely.
You'd think a local Chapter would do some kind of outreach to new members. The one out of my dealership makes me feel like they're a closed little clique.

As with any large group ,,, you have indians and you have the chiefs.... typically from what i have experienced ,, usually there is always one of the old chiefs that will make the effort to make new members feel welcome ....Go do the rides ,, attend the functions ,, and meet some people that you enjoy hanging with ,,,,,, in short while ,, you will be part of the club. It takes a while to get to know people ,, you have to remember they are just like you are ,,, alot of them feel a little shy about meeting new people .... you are new to them and they are new to you .... make the effort to fit in ... its a two way street ..If you show up with a chip on your shoulder ,,,,dont expect people to kiss yoru butt ....its not going to happen..... rat
I didn't buy either of my bikes locally, but as others have said, you sould be able to get information at the dealer. My chapter has a signup table every meeting as well as a new member/visitor table where you can sit and during the meeting you will be recognized. Seems to work well enough. As I said in my earlier post, I think your experience is what you make it.

We have two local chapters here and I ended up joining both. Let's face it. There are some times when I want to group ride and one chapter doesn't have anything going but the other does.
joining hog chapter

Have you tried looking up the local chapter on the internet for the meeting date. in my chapter you just show up and join.
