Winds gusting to +40. I think Mother Nature may be reminding me it's time to park the ride for the winter sooner rather than later. I took these this afternoon a few steps from my office.

I've never really understood these "old salt" terms, but the wind was blowing out of the Northwest, so by deduction I guess that makes it a Southeaster (never heard that term before). What it was — was friggin' windy!

Yes indeed, Mad! It's blowing to beat hell around here (U.P.) too...and it's pretty cold as well. It's supposed to warm up again later in the week. We'll see.

The lake levels here today were posted at -42 inches. That means the water is 42 inches below chart data. From the summer months, that is equivalent to Lake Eris being 5 feet lower due to the strong S.W. winds.
Buffalo is way up from the bath tub affect. Go Figure
