I got no problem with rich urban bikers. I know a guy who likes riding his bike around town on Sundays. He isn't interested in long rides. He is too busy working the rest of the week to ride. But on Sunday he puts on his leathers and rides to a few bars, friends houses or to dinner.
He puts about 500 miles a year on his bike, about 10 miles or so each Sunday that he rides. Every five years, he trades in his Harley to get a new one, just at the time it needs the 2,500 mile servicing. So every five years, someone gets to buy his old bike, a 5 year old Harley with 2,500 miles on it. The bike has been garaged and looks almost new. He is now on his 4th Harley, having owned three other ones over the past 15 years.
He told me his hobby costs him several thousand dollars a year when amortized over the five year period. Most of his cost is depreciation and insurance. Gas and maintenance don't add up to much. He makes a good living and this is his main hobby.
So I enjoy talking with him when I run into him. He is a fellow biker. he just doesn't ride as much as most of the bikers I know do. But he is out there on two wheels, riding a Harley on Sundays. I've got no problem with that.
