So, I know I do not have stock pipes on the bike I just bought, but not sure how to tell what KIND of pipes are installed.

At the risk of sounding completely stupid: How does one identify the type of exhaust?

:huh:

Actually not a stupid question at all. Experts here can identify many set ups through pictures. If you look very carefully, you will likely find part #'s. There are ways to trace the numbers. Good luck and welcome to the forum ! :coffee:

Many of them have their logo stamped on the pipe. Have you looked for one? If there is no logo then it will be hard to tell. Many of the cheaper aftermarket pipes have no markings.

What's the difference who makes the pipes? If you like the sound that's all that matters.

I'd just like to know what kind of pipes they are, and t may be important in tuning the EFI to get rid of decel pop.

A tuner doesn't use this setting for these pipes and that setting for those pipes so it's irrelevant.

I did not remove a bag...didn't have time today, so just went crawling around on the floor looking...off tomorrow, so may do it then.

go find an old grizzled biker as described in another thread up at the top and if you can catch him between beers he might be able to identify them for you.

So your standing around with a bunch of guys talking about bikes.

"So what kind of pipes you got there?"

"I don't know, I was told it does not matter."

:confused::confused::confused:

How about:

"So what kind of pipes you got there?"

"I think they are just Sampson rolled thunder slip on's "

maybe these ?:

Look like Cole has it right. I'd say you have stock headers with Sampson Rolled Thunder slip-ons.

A good tuner will probably be able to remove the decel popping. (and he won't need to know the brand)
