Hulett was not nearly as crowded as last year. I saw more flesh on Main Street in Sturgis. The Wyoming cops have really cracked down on the public nudity in Hulett the last couple of years. It was pretty tame this year. On a downer note, Captain Ron, who ran the bar that puts on the Ham 'n' Jam died the day before. There was kind of a somber mood there, and rightfully so. We'll see what next year brings.

No Panties Wednesday AKA No Skin Wednesday

I am posting to dispel the myth of "No Panties Wednesday". If you are going to go to Hulett, go for the great ride to get there and maybe a stop at the Stone House Saloon in Belle Fourche. You will absolutely not see any nudity in Hulett, or anywhere else around Sturgis unless you stay at a campground or go to a strip joint. I was in Hulett and Beulah in '98 and both towns were pretty wide open with nudity, but no more. I have seen more exposure at the local shopping mall than I did on this trip to Sturgis. Not saying that is the only reason I go to Sturgis, but things sure have changed in the last 14 years.

I started going to Hulett back in the 80's. It was always a secret get away on Wednesdays from the Sturgis madness party. It had plenty of :boobies: around for the sight see'ers. Even the two town police (Barney and Andy) enjoyed the party. They had their own cameras out snapping pictures of the scenery. The main street became a burn out alley and the girl's were 1/2 naked most of the time. The beer flowed and there was always a pig roast for the hungry.
Ahh...the good times of the past.

Just my 2 cents...from No Cents

117" Darkhorse build...all smiles !!!

Just got home from the tee shirt rally. Did see some good bands at the camp grounds but Hulett, Sturgis, Keystone etc. have become rather tame. It is what it is, but my biggest concern/complaint is the many stupid riders on the road. Either they have no experience or they just don't give a damn.

There were 8 deaths I heard of, saw one early in the week and on the way home two more people were killed on WY 18, RV and mini van head on collision, we were about 200 yards behind the accident and it took the cops 4 hours to clear the blood and guts.

The week started off bad and ended just as bad.

RIP.

WOW!! how do they have a head on on WY18? I've ridden that Hwy on the way home from Sturgis and from what I remember it's pretty flat and straight as a string.

Was somebody trying to pass or did they just drift across the center line? If my memory is correct, aren't there "passing lanes" periodically along that stretch?

When you're that close to a bad wreck it always makes you think about how a few seconds and a couple hundred yards can make the difference between life and death.

How long did it take you to "regroup" mentally after seeing that?

Anyway, always sorry to hear about fatalities. Glad you're OK Waffen!

PS: Looks like the final count was 9, but that's just for the week of the rally. It doesn't take into account accidents before or after the rally.
